Holiday Spirit

Standard

I don’t seem to have one this year.
We are going to see family this year as a late decision for the year. Originally it was to see my Sister (J2) while she was in town, but she isn’t able to be in town until we have to be back home. Which sucks but we’ll hopefully see her next year on her vacation.

I’m still happy to be visiting with family at Christmas though and it does give us some time off from work. But I’m not up for the holidays part of next couple weeks. Maybe it’s because I haven’t gotten out Xmas cards or really baked anything, that should happen this weekend. Maybe I’m just bummed not to see the sister next week. Maybe I just need to watch an Xmas movie and hope that the spirit catches up with me.

Also what’s with all the hate for “Baby it’s Cold Outside”? Lots of songs can be crappy out of context. Maybe I love it so much because it reminds me of one of my favorite people.

Life is Good Day

Standard

In 2002, we made up a holiday. It with two college freshman. As can be expected they were barely starting to figure out the whole “adult” part of life.
It started with a list, trying to remember and keep present with why Life is Good, and ended with an adventure.

I believe that we’ve acknowledged the every year since and sometimes the number when we really need it. The past few years have been rougher about this time of year.

But every year we still acknowledge how greatful we are for our lives and how they have turned out, cause in 2002 we were young and a bit crazy. (as everyone that age tends to be.) Maybe we made up our own anniversary because we needed to celebrate our friendship because it was one of the biggest constant support at the time. And now even though we’re hundreds of miles apart we can celebrate how far we’ve come together and apart. It’s the rough times when we need it, so taking the time to celebrate makes it easier to remember life is good.

❤ you Sexy girl.

No Sugar week 4

Standard

Some things I’ve learned over the last three weeks of staying away from added sugars.
1) I don’t eat alot of added sugar really. It mostly comes in the form of sauces like bbq or teriyaki.
2) people will sneak sweet tea into all sorts of things even if you ask for un sweet. This has been my biggest source of slip ups during the last month.
3) Some things are better without the added ransom sugar or other ingredients. Peanut butter and jam have been our biggest surprises.
4) some things are nearly impossible to find. Cereal and bread  have been the biggest challenge for me. I actually gave up on bread and found the lowest sugar content possible or made my own.
5) We will probably stick to a low sugar diet after this week is over. It has certainly made us more conscience of the random added sugar to things that don’t need it. Like soup or peanutbutter. But then we’ll have room for the occasional cookie or pie with dinner.

One more sugar free week. But Monday next week I’m certainly going to have a chocolate dipper peanutbutter cookie that I’ve been stashing away.

Chickboxing Week 6

Standard

Last week there was another new girl in class. It made me feel better to see where how far I’d come and feel like I kinda knew what was going on. It gets easier.
A has decided that this class just isn’t for her, so I’m alone here on out. I’m ok with that. I think i just needed someone for the first day to figure some things out, but I’m totally fine by myself now. The ladies are great and welcoming and it is not at all intimidating.
I have not noticed any weight differences, but I don’t get as winded as I used to so I count that as a win.
