Plans are all set, with the exception of our corporate housing but that will be set when we arrive, and now I’m having stupid thoughts.
We’ve made a terrible mistake! All the cities we are driving through are 60 degrees and lower
I’m never going to adjust to having to wear socks again
How are people going to be able to appreciate my toenail Polish!?
Clearly the weather is my only worry about this move. First world problems.
This past weekend we rented a car, packed up the demons and drove to MI for K’s wedding. Interesting ridiculous that happened along the way. 1) Flat tire the day before the wedding, which had to be taken in to get fixed the day of the wedding. 2) stripper pole on the party bus 3) got flashed by a groom’sman’s wife/girlfriend not sure 4) random hugs and weird handshakes by people i’ll never see again in the receiving line. OK that may not be interesting or ridiculous, but still weird.
Friday: left at 5am, had dinner with parents @ 7pm.
Saturday: Nails at 11:30, rehearsal at 3:30, rehearsal dinner afterward, the top of my dress needs to be sewn closed before Matt’s wedding so my boob will stop falling out.
Sunday: Getting tire fixed, getting ready for wedding, wedding, pictures, more pictures, reception at fancy pants hotel, sleep
Monday: bunny food and beer purchasing, dinner with family, pictures of charlie chaplin building, slurpy stop, looking at old pictures with family
Tuesday: drive home

…’cause I’m a total geek. But it’s good stuff.
“If there’s no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters … then all that matters is what we do. ‘Cause that’s all there is. What we do. Now. Today. I fought for so long, for redemption, for a reward, and finally just to beat the other guy. Because, if there’s no bigger meaning, then the smallest act of kindness is the greatest thing in the world.” — Angel, “Epiphanies”
We surprised my parents this year with a visit. We drove up on the 30th, got a hotel, had dinner with V, and then I sent my dad a text message the morning of the 31st – I thought he didn’t have to work so I asked him to meet me at the Ikea. I’d never been and it was close to our hotel. He thought I’d meant the message for someone else and sent it to him by mistake…”I would, but its a little far of a drive.” When I told him which Ikea I meant, he called. He was at work and could not meet us. The other J and I went anyway because mom was also at work and it killed a little time.
After Ikea we went to my parent’s house, stashed the car at Grandma’s house – who normally is always home but was not when we left the car. Hungout with dad and the baby for a while, went and visited grandma and grandpa, waited for mom to get home. When Mom got home we hid and Dad covered her eyes and walked her over to us. and POOF! there we were.
We went to their friend’s New Years Eve party, played “are you smarter than a 5th grader?” Saw some cousins and family friends, watched the ball drop had champagne and otherwise had a wonderful New Years. I’m very glad I was able to see the babies and my expectant cousin.
New Years day was dinner (in the southern sense) at Grandma’s with additional family and then a hike in the state land behind the subdivision. There was sledding, snow angels, and the posting of deer cameras before Chinese and movies.
We had a great time visiting.

Best birthday since I was 10.
No idea where we were headed until we got there. Definitely a wonderful weekend.
